摘要:

太赫兹(THz)技术是公众熟知的一种强大的成像工具,该技术已经被应用于安全领域和医学扫描,生成了许多使用其他技术所无法获得的令人印象深刻的图像。随着5G移动网络的推出,对6G无线通信的研究正在升温。据预测,太赫兹技术将被用于6G和未来的无线通信。本文回顾了太赫兹技术是如何被应用于成像和无线通信的,然后介绍和确定了该领域的最新发展,最后检查和比较了这两种应用中的常见设备和问题。本文还讨论了将太赫兹成像与无线通信整合的可能性,提出并讨论了目前面临的挑战和未来前景。结果表明,太赫兹技术是未来成像和无线通信的一项关键使能技术。

Convergence to real-time decision making

摘要: Real-time decision making reflects the convergence of several digital technologies, including those concerned with the promulgation of artificial intelligence and other advanced technologies that underpin real-time actions. More specifically, real-time decision making can be depicted in terms of three converging dimensions: Internet of Things, decision making, and real-time. The Internet of Things include tangible goods, intangible services, ServGoods, and connected ServGoods. Decision making includes model-based analytics (since before 1990), information-based Big Data (since 1990), and training-based artificial intelligence (since 2000), and it is bolstered by the evolving real-time technologies of sensing (i.e., capturing streaming data), processing (i.e., applying real-time analytics), reacting (i.e., making decisions in real-time), and learning (i.e., employing deep neural networks). Real-time includes mobile networks, autonomous vehicles, and artificial general intelligence. Central to decision making, especially real-time decision making, is the ServGood concept, which the author introduced in an earlier paper (2012). It is a physical product or good encased by a services layer that renders the good more adaptable and smarter for a specific purpose or use. Addition of another communication sensors layer could further enhance its smartness and adaptiveness. Such connected ServGoods constitute a solid foundation for the advanced products of tomorrow which can further display their growing intelligence through real-time decisions.

An Internet-of-Things Initiative for One Belt One Road (OBOR)

摘要: A wide range of industrial Internet of Things (IoT) applications have been developed and deployed in recent years. IoT has provided a promising opportunity to build powerful industrial systems and applications by leveraging the growing ubiquity of RFID, wireless, mobile and sensor devices. In an effort to understand the development of IoT in industries, this paper reviews the current research of IoT, key enabling technologies, major IoT applications in industries, and identifies research trends and challenges. As IoT has received support from governments and businesses across the globe, IoT will also greatly impact One Belt One Road (OBOR) in foreseeable future.

摘要: Electronic components face a declining performance and elevated power consumption with the increase of the signal frequency; thus, it is mandatory that new circuit structures, materials, and manufacturing processes can meet the requirements of higher throughput and robustness. In short, the evolution of existing 5G and the development of 6G standard put mmWave wireless communications against numerous challenges. The overall performance improvement of existing mmWave wireless communication systems will inevitably rely on the upgrade of components, signal processing methods, and system schemes. The evolution and innovation of channel models, components, and system design can also pave the way for new applications. In this context, the journal of Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering organized a special issue on high-throughput mmWave wireless communications. This special issue covers mmWave channel models, system designs, and components, and is intended to review the advances and future research directions in the field of mmWave wireless communication research. After rigorous review processes, 13 papers authored by researchers worldwide have been selected for this issue, including two review articles, 10 research articles, and one correspondence.

摘要: 本文就新兴通信技术——非正交多址接入(non-orthogonal multiple access, NOMA)——对未来无线网络的影响进行了全面综述。具体地,介绍了NOMA原理对下一代多址接入技术设计的影响。讨论了NOMA在其他先进通信技术上的应用,包括无线缓存、多入多出技术、毫米波通信以及协同中继。阐述了NOMA对蜂窝网络之外通信系统的影响,例如数字电视、卫星通信、车联网及可见光通信。最后,讨论并总结了NOMA的主要研究挑战及未来发展方向。

Correlated channel model-based secure communications in dual-hop wireless communication networks Article

摘要: 主要研究在相关信道模型条件下两跳无线通信网络的中继物理层安全波束成形方案设计问题。系统模型由1个发送节点、1个合法接收节点、1个窃听节点和1个采用放大转发策略的中继节点构成,其中中继节点装备多天线,而其他节点都装备单天线,窃听节点靠近合法接收节点进行窃听,从而使得二者与中继节点之间的信道具有相关性。中继节点无法获得窃听信道的瞬时信道状态信息,只可获得合法信道的瞬时状态信息,以及合法信道与窃听信道之间的相关性信息,据此中继节点可推导出窃听信道状态的条件概率分布。以系统近似遍历安全容量为优化目标,研究了2种中继波束成形方案:1最大化合法信道容量的“广义匹配转发方案”;2“普通阶波束成形方案”。另外,还讨论了基于遍历安全容量下界的“下界最优化波束成形方案”。与上述两方案比对,“广义匹配转发方案”是最优的秩-1方案,“普通阶波束成形方案”则是基于近似遍历安全容量的迭代最优的中继转发方案。通过仿真对各波束成形方案的性能进行比较,验证了本文的分析。从仿真结果还可以看出:当中继节点发送功率较低,或者第二跳信道增益较低时,“广义匹配转发方案”的性能优于“普通阶波束成形方案”。

Development and testing of a wireless smart toolholder with multi-sensor fusion

摘要: The smart toolholder is the core component in the development of intelligent and precise manufacturing. It enables in situ monitoring of cutting data and machining accuracy evolution and has become a focal point in academic research and industrial applications. However, current table and rotational dynamometers for milling force, vibration, and temperature testing suffer from cumbersome installation and provide only a single acquisition signal, which limits their use in laboratory settings. In this study, we propose a wireless smart toolholder with multi-sensor fusion for simultaneous sensing of milling force, vibration, and temperature signals. We select force, vibration, and temperature sensors suitable for smart toolholder fusion to adapt to the cutting environment. Thereafter, structural design, circular runout, dynamic balancing, static stiffness, and dynamic inherent frequency tests are conducted to assess its dynamic and static performance. Finally, the smart toolholder is tested for accuracy and repeatability in terms of force, vibration, and temperature. Experimental results demonstrate that the smart toolholder accurately captures machining data with a relative deviation of less than 1.5% compared with existing force gauges and provides high repeatability of milling temperature and vibration signals. Therefore, it is a smart solution for machining condition monitoring.

Effect of placement angles on wireless electrocoagulation for bipolar aluminum electrodes

摘要: We in our previous study reported the wireless electrocoagulation (WEC) based on bipolar electrochemistry for water purification. One of the most important advantages of WEC is the omission of ohmic connection between bipolar electrode (BPE) and power supply, and thus the electrochemical reactions on BPE are driven by electric field in solution induced by driving electrodes. In this study, the impact of placement angle of bipolar aluminum electrode on WEC was investigated to provide a detailed analysis on the correlations between the bipolar electrode placement angle and bipolar electrocoagulation reactions. The results showed that the WEC cell with a horizontal BPE placed at 0° produced the maximum dissolved aluminum coagulant, accounting for 71.6 % higher than that with a vertical one placed at 90°. Moreover, the finite element simulations of current and potential distribution were carried out along the surface of BPE at different placement angles, revealing the mechanism of different BPE placement angles on aluminum dissolution rates in WEC system.

Distinct mononuclear diploid cardiac subpopulation with minimal cell–cell communications persists in

摘要: A small proportion of mononuclear diploid cardiomyocytes (MNDCMs), with regeneration potential, could persist in adult mammalian heart. However, the heterogeneity of MNDCMs and changes during development remains to be illuminated. To this end, 12 645 cardiac cells were generated from embryonic day 17.5 and postnatal days 2 and 8 mice by single-cell RNA sequencing. Three cardiac developmental paths were identified: two switching to cardiomyocytes (CM) maturation with close CM–fibroblast (FB) communications and one maintaining MNDCM status with least CM–FB communications. Proliferative MNDCMs having interactions with macrophages and non-proliferative MNDCMs (non-pMNDCMs) with minimal cell–cell communications were identified in the third path. The non-pMNDCMs possessed distinct properties: the lowest mitochondrial metabolisms, the highest glycolysis, and high expression of Myl4 and Tnni1. Single-nucleus RNA sequencing and immunohistochemical staining further proved that the Myl4+Tnni1+ MNDCMs persisted in embryonic and adult hearts. These MNDCMs were mapped to the heart by integrating the spatial and single-cell transcriptomic data. In conclusion, a novel non-pMNDCM subpopulation with minimal cell–cell communications was unveiled, highlighting the importance of microenvironment contribution to CM fate during maturation. These findings could improve the understanding of MNDCM heterogeneity and cardiac development, thus providing new clues for approaches to effective cardiac regeneration.

Effects of environmental media on the transmission of an inductive link in wireless microsystems

摘要:

An inductive link between two magnetically coupled coils in wireless microsystems is modeled by considering an additional parasitic capacitive link to describe the effect of environmental media. With a system of inductor-capacitor passive wireless sensors, the effects of environmental media are studied theoretically and experimentally for the first time. Results suggest that the capacitive link is non-negligible when the distance between the two coupled coils is comparable with the coupling area, particularly when the environmental medium has a large dielectric constant.

A preliminary research on wireless cantilever beam vibration sensor in bridge health monitoring

摘要: According to specific bridge environment, optimal design piezoelectric cantilever beam structure by using results of theoretical calculations and simulation, verify natural frequencies of piezoelectric cantilever beam and production ability of data by experiment, thus formed a complete set of design method of piezoelectric cantilever beam. Considering natural frequency of vibration and intensity of the beam body, design a new type of piezoelectric cantilever beam structure. Paper analyzes the principle of sensor data acquisition and transmission, design a hardware integration system include signal conversion module, microcontroller module and wireless transmission module, test local read and wireless transmission for the combination structure of cantilever beam and data collection card, experimental verification of the radio piezoelectric vibrating cantilever vibration response is intact, the beam produced signal by vibration, acquisition card converts and wireless transmit data, this proved a good and intuitive linear response in simulation of bridge vibration test. Finally, the paper designed a kind of new wireless sensor of vibration cantilever beam, suitable for small bridge health monitoring based on Internet of things.

Vibration testing of a steel girder bridge using cabled and wireless sensors

摘要: Being able to significantly reduce system installation time and cost, wireless sensing technology has attracted much interest in the structural health monitoring (SHM) community. This paper reports the field application of a wireless sensing system on a 4-span highway bridge located in Wayne, New Jersey in the US. Bridge vibration due to traffic and ambient excitation is measured. To enhance the signal-to-noise ratio, a low-noise high-gain signal conditioning module is developed for the wireless sensing system. Nineteen wireless and nineteen cabled accelerometers are first installed along the sidewalk of two neighboring bridge spans. The performance of the wireless sensing system is compared with the high-precision cabled sensing system. In the next series of testing, 16 wireless accelerometers are installed under the deck of another bridge span, forming a 4 × 4 array. Operating deflection analysis is successfully conducted using the wireless measurement of traffic and ambient vibrations.

A feasibility study of the measuring accuracy and capability of wireless sensor networks in tunnel monitoring

摘要: Fire disasters and the deterioration of tunnel structures are major concerns for tunnel operation and maintenance. Traditional wired monitoring systems have many drawbacks in terms of installation time, overall cost, and flexibility in tunnel environments. In recent years, there has been growing interest in the use of wireless sensor networks (WSNs) for the monitoring of various structural monitoring applications. This paper evaluated the feasibility of applying a WSN in the monitoring of tunnels. The monitoring requirements of tunnels under explosion and combustion fire scenarios are analyzed using numerical simulation, and the maximum possible distance for temperature sensors is derived. The displacement monitoring of tunnels using an inclinometer is investigated. It is recommended that the inclinometer should be installed in the 1/4 span of the tunnel structure. The maximum wireless transmission distances in both outdoor and tunnel environments were examined. The influences of surface materials and sensor node locations on the data transmission distance in tunnel environments were also investigated. The experimental results show that the data loss in tunnel environments is approximately three times that in outdoor environments. Surface material has a considerable influence on the transmission distance of radio signals. The distance is 25 ? 28 m for a raw concrete surface, 20 m for a brick surface, and 36 m for a terrazzo surface. The transmission distances along the middle of quarter points are approximately 0.9 ( is the transmission distance in the center of the tunnel), and the relative error is less than±3%. The transmission distances at different locations along the bottom exhibit significant differences, decreasing from the middle to the corner point, with distances of approximately 0.8 at the quarter points and minimum distances of approximately 0.55 at the corner points.

Analysis of resonant coupling coil configurations of EV wireless charging system: a simulation study

摘要: Nowadays, internal combustion engine vehicles are considered as one of the major contributors to air pollution. To make transportation more environmentally friendly, plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) have been proposed. However, with an increase in the number of PEVs, the drawbacks associated with the cost and size, as well as charging cables of batteries have arisen. To address these challenges, a novel technology named wireless charging system has been recently recommended. This technology rapidly evolves and becomes very attractive for charging operations of electric vehicles. Currently, wireless charging systems offer highly efficient power transfer over the distances ranging from several millimeters to several hundred millimeters. This paper is focused on analyzing electromagnetically coupled resonant wireless technique used for the charging of EVs. The resonant wireless charging system for EVs is modeled, simulated, and then examined by changing different key parameters to evaluate how transfer distance, load, and coil’s geometry, precisely number of coil’s turns, coil’s shape, and inter-turn distance, influence the efficiency of the charging process. The simulation results are analyzed and critical dimensions are discussed. It is revealed that a proper choice of the dimensions, inter-turn distance, and transfer distance of the coil can result in a significant improvement in charging efficiency. Furthermore, the influence of the transfer distance, frequency, load, as well as the number of the turns of the coil on the performance of wireless charging system is the main focus of this paper.
